In order to promote the revitalization of the national seed industry and meet the strategic demand for high-quality grass seeds in the fields of national ecological construction, forage production and urban greening, the department of Breeding and Seed Science has set up a teaching and scientific research system that integrates the collection and evaluation of germplasm resources, the selection and breeding of new varieties, the propagation and quality control of good varieties into a complete chain. Focusing on important forage grass, native grass species and energy grass in China, genetic engineering and molecular biological techniques such as gene cloning, gene overexpression, gene interference and gene editing are applied to study the regulation mechanism of yield, quality and stress resistance of grass plants, innovate germplasm and carry out molecular breeding work. Research was also carried out on seed quality testing and evaluation, physiological and molecular mechanism of seed deterioration, seed germination mechanism and vigor repair, seed production and coating technology. Improve the overall technical level of seed production and seed quality control, promote the industrialization of grass seed and the application and promotion of fine varieties in China. And through the cultivation of talents with different gradients in the direction of breeding and seed science, we can meet the needs of related industries and positions in grass seed industry.
