报告人：日本草地学会前会长，北海道大学名誉教授山田敏彦博士（Prof. Toshihiko Yamada ）

Dr. Toshihiko Yamada is an emeritus Professor at the Field Science Center Northern Biosphere, Hokkaido University, Japan. Earlier in his career, Prof. Toshihiko Yamada worked on forage crops at several research stations controlled by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries before his appointment at Hokkaido University. At Hokkaido University, his research has primarily focused on studying bioenergy crops, especially species of the grass Miscanthus, with the aim of establishing efficient and cost-effective feedstock biomass production for cool environments like those found in Hokkaido. His recent research activities on the energy crop Miscanthus have been conducted through international collaborative studies with partners such as the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the USA and Aberystwyth University in the UK. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed English papers, released more than 10 varieties of forage crops, and written or edited more than 10 English scientific books. He also served as the former President of the Japanese Society of Grassland Science.

山田敏彦博士是日本北海道大学北方生物圈野外科学中心的名誉教授。在其职业生涯的早期，山田敏彦教授在北海道大学任职之前，曾在农林水产省下属的几个研究站从事饲料作物研究工作。在北海道大学，他的研究主要集中在生物能源作物特别是芒草上，目的是为北海道等凉爽的环境建立高效且具有成本效益的原料生物质生产。他最近对芒草的研究活动是通过与美国伊利诺伊大学厄巴纳-香槟分校和英国阿伯里斯特威斯大学等合作伙伴的国际合作研究进行的。他撰写了150多篇同行评审的英文论文，育成了10多个饲料作物品种，并撰写或编辑了10多本英文科学书籍。他还担任了日本草地学会的前任主席。
