Matthias C. Rillig works at the Freie Universität Berlin as a professor of ecology. He is
the founding director of the Berlin-Brandenburg Institute of Advanced Biodiversity
Research. His research focus is themed broadly around global change, biodiversity, and
the functions and ecology of soil fungi, with most people in the lab working on fungi,
especially arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and saprobic fungi. Matthias has authored more
than 500 peer-reviewed scientific publications. His relevant achievements and academic
research applications are at the international leading level.
