Department of Turfgrass Science and Engineering

Turf is dedicated to human life with service, social and ecological functions. It is one of the guardians of the ecological environment, the cradle of many modern sports, and provides open places for public leisure and recreation.  It has become an important part of the construction of human material and spiritual civilization in modern society. The Department of Turfgrass Science and Engineering will take “Building Moral Integrity and Nurturing Students” as the foundation, and aim to improve the quality of talent cultivation and to promote the development of the turf industry. The department will also adhere to the principle of combining basic theoretical research and practical application innovation in order to cultivate high-end talents full of innovative spirit and ability for the turf industry.

At present there are 2 faculty members in the department, and we plan to increase the faculty members to 12-15 people in the next 3-5 years. We have the Turfgrass Evaluation Lab, the Turfgrass Physiology & Biochemistry Lab, an on campus mini golf green, the university soccer/rugby field, a nursery for turfgrass germplasm, and several off campus research training bases for experimental teaching and practice training of students.

The teaching & research system and social services can cover the collection/evaluation/application of turfgrass germplasm, turf intelligent production, precision management of turfgrass, modern sports turf, green turf engineering, and eventually the whole turf industry chains.
